Gyorgy Ono

His work largely explores fragmentation and sonic extractions from pre-recorded music, with the creation of compositions from elements of a pre-existing¬†material. Thus, both the acts of appropriation and recycling are important elements in Ono’s art, allowing borrowed sounds to be re-contextualised in order to give them a new purpose.

We are surrounded with infinite sounds that we cannot and should not ignore. As a sound artist, Ono’s aim is not only to consume but also to capture and present sound in a context that shifts passive listening into active.
